‘Rhythms’ – Handa Gallery 2020 with the Links and Layers group.

A successful exhibition, held during a brief respite from gallery closures due to COVID.

More images to come, but here is Glad that I live am I, an interpretation of a song/hymn I sang on my swing in the garden as a child. The embroidered word ‘seats’ are written in the Marion Richardson script that I was being taught at school – my first ‘joined-up’ handwriting. The image ‘seats’ worked from the words are bobbin lace panels, worked in linen, and then coloured as a child would colour a picture. They are deliberately child-like in nature. Each ‘seat’ is life-size.
