Cley 17 – Lace Routes, concept and images of completed piece
The site at the back of the church, seen in late autumn 2016.
Here is my catalogue entry (written well before the installation of the lace!)
‘Six parish churches fan out from St Margaret’s, Cley. I walked to each and recorded what stimulated and intrigued me. The design of the lace paths relates both to the tracery of the church and the rhythmic pacing of footsteps. At the end of each path is a ‘memory’ sourced from my findings, freely interpreted in lace.’
Following the installation on 29th June, I took this image. I hope to get some more with the sun out later …
